Backyard Camping & Morgan's Birthday

This was a great weekend for a campout in the backyard. Andrew has never slept in a tent. We cooked hot dogs and s'mores. Andrew LOVES hot dogs! As for me, my bed was nice and comfy in the house!

Morgan turned 14 over the weekend! Andrew drew a picture of her for her birthday!

Mark and I were talking the other night about how much we love Andrew. It's as if he has always been a part of our family. No matter what we go through with him, he is our son and I can't explain or express the love I have in my heart for him. It's a love that comes right from Heaven itself. I am so glad we stepped out and said "yes!" I am so glad Andrew stepped out of his comfort zone and said "yes." This amazing walk of faith and obedience has changed who I am. I am so grateful to my Savior for loving me and teaching me each step of the way.

I also want to say thank you to all of you for the encouraging emails and comments you leave for us. To know you are all still praying for Andrew and us. Words cannot express my gratitude....THANK YOU my friends!

  1. So happy to read this update. I was just thinking about you guys this afternoon and hoping you were doing well. The last picture just looks like Andrew has always been with you, so it was funny to see you say the same thing in the last paragraph. :)
Again, thank you so much for sharing your story with us. I absolutely love to hear about your family.

    2. That's awesome and in fact today would have been my grandmother's 100th birthday; she was born in 1912 but died 8 YRS ago. :(

  7. You have mentioned challenges with Andrew a few times. Would you mind sharing some of these challenges with us? What are some of the real issues with adopting an older child? Thank you and god bless

    1. I will eventually write a post about some of the things that happen with an older child adoption. When these kids come from a survival mode, there are going to be challenges. We love Andrew! He's a great boy and we're excited about the progress he's making!
