What a Day!

We got to the orphanage around 11:00 this morning. They went and got Andrey for us. As soon as he saw us he started speaking to our facilitator. He was different today. He actually looked us in the eyes. Yesterday he didn't.

You see, last night while you, the Army of the Lord was praying, the Holy Spirit was moving on the heart of a young boy. When the Army of the Lord gathers together and prays, the Heavens and earth move!

He wanted us to know that as soon as we left yesterday, he went and wrote two letters in the director's office saying he WANTS Mark and Hansina Mickschl to be his family. He got up this morning after sleeping on it and signed both papers stating this!

He was different! He wasn't the scared, confused boy from yesterday. Something had changed. He said many different people had spoken to him, but this was his life and his decision....he wants to be a Mickschl!

Have you ever seen a miracle unfold? Well, you are right now!

Our facilitator asked if he was 101% certain he wants to be adopted and his reply was, "I am 200% certain!"

We still need your prayers. There is a stronghold here and we are asking for a hedge of protection to cover the seed of courage Andrey has chosen.

Thank you, thank you my wonderful family of prayer warriors! I am humbled and in awe of all that transpired today. The prayers of the saints! I am blessed the Lord has brought each and every one of you into our lives. The prayers of a righteousness man availeth much.

Leaving you with some pictures of today. Here is Andrey, on the left and his best friend on the right. Then some of the other boys standing up in the back. His best friend is a sweet boy. Look at the smile on my son's face! He is peaceful.

Here they are on the iPad. Andrey loves to play piano! So does our daughter, Morgan. Morgan started playing piano because she loves the song Fur Elise. The very first song he played on the iPad piano was....Fur Elise!

And so we will continue on the rest of our journey. We praise and thank you Lord Jesus!

Blessings,
Hansina

  15. What a wonderful relief I am feeling - and knowing that your own relief is thousands of times greater than my own is marvelous. I am very thankful that Andrey will become your son, and pray for those other four young boys - their facial expressions are so poignant, especially compared with the look of joy on Andrey's face. Heartbreaking...but perhaps their families-to-be will recognize their sons through your pictures of them. They, along with Andrey and your family, will be in my prayers, too.

    1. I agree completely, Susan... I noticed that right away, the differences in their expressions. :( I know they will miss their friend, but I think it's more than that... less hope and less love in their life. Hope and love really breathe life into a person. Praying with you for the futures of Andrey's friends.

    2. After I wrote above, I remembered a photo taken of the groupa of the elder of my young relatives from Andrey's country while her adoption was in progress. She knew she had a family coming - the other children in her groupa had none. Her parents were back home to wait out some red tape - but she knew they would return.

A visitor from a US non-profit brought oranges and cookies to the orphanage and took her photo to pass along to her family back home, then took a photo of all the children together. The contrast is very clear and very saddening: my young relative's face is absolutely glowing, while her classmates have the most wistful expressions you can imagine on their equally beautiful young faces. They were only seven or eight then, but they knew what their futures held.

Most of them were typical kids, with only one sweet, bright little boy having an uncorrected cleft palate and resulting speech problems, according to my adopting relatives. Yet because they were "older" and had been sent to an isolated internat with a poor reputation, a place which is almost never mentioned online - no one seems to have shown an interest in them. I pray I am mistaken and that they ALL have families who simply don't blog or publicize their adoptions online...

They are about fourteen now. In a year or two, they, like Andrey's friends, will "graduate" and be on their own.

      And that breaks my heart.

Thanks again - I am so happy that Andrey will soon be your son, and I am happy to learn that his best friend has a mother who's part of his life.

I am in awe of your strong faith and how yesterday even though you were heartbroken to be rejected by your son, your pleas were truly for the best interest of his heart, even if that was not with you. You are wonderful parents. Joyfully rejoicing that today he accepted love and family. Praying for the hedge of protection in the days that come. And for the friends he leaves behind.
