I've had several people ask how Andrew does with the babies. Well, at first he ignored them. I thought maybe it was because they have Down syndrome and that is not accepted in his country. But lately he has been paying more attention to Mackenzie. He will go over to her highchair and smile at her. She looks at him with her big brown eyes with a little uncertanity. I think he likes her! I think she's not too sure about him!
We were getting ready to leave the other day and I asked Andrew to hold John-David. I went to hand JD to him and Andrew didn't know what to do. I showed him how to place his hands and arms around JD. As soon as he did John-David wrapped his arms around Andrew and laid his head on his shoulder. It was so precious! I went to grab my camera when Madison came around the corner and saw the two of them. The first thing Andrew told her was, "I the big brother!" I think his smile says it all!
Maybe he just didn't know what to do with the babies. He's never been around little ones before. He's never been in a family before. This is all new to him and he's learning how to be a son and a big brother!
Heaven forgive me, I never thought about the whole "I don't know anything about babies" possibility. Shame on me and sorry to Andrew. He certainly looks comfortable in the picture and so does JD. That makes me happy for both of them.
ReplyDeleteI know! I thought he didn't like them because of the Down syndrome. I'm glad that's not the case! I love this picture of the two of them!
DeleteThe things we learn! Your way with Andrew is God-given! YOU are a mother I admire! Thank you for being such an inspiration :)

That's the sweetest picture that will be so cherished in later years when Andrew and all of you look back on these days. I know I speak for everyone when I say my heart is so warmed and blessed at each stage of growth that Andrew makes. It's like watching a child sit up, then crawl, then walk, each one more exciting than the last. Rejoicing with you! God is so good!

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful picture! God creates the most precious bonds in families, doesn't He?
ReplyDeleteAwww, that is totally precious! He is an awesome big brother!
ReplyDeletewhat a picture! That smile says it all :)
ReplyDeleteThis will probably sound so offensive..but I don't intend to do any harm.
ReplyDeleteSo i read my way through your blog last night and I'm actually still wondering what you would do if Andrew falls in love with one of the girls and vice versa.
(This is now the bit where you shouldnt get me wrong) It's all nice and good to say: 'Oh God intended him to be their brother' etc.. but what if?
I mean do you still wonder sometimes?
No doubt he comes across as a brother without any intentions and I love love love your blog.
But yeah I was just wonderin.
P.S I as well think he looks like your husband :)
It's interesting that you ask. I should write a post about it. You would think having a teenage boy with two teenage girls....like you said, what if? I should give my story sometime. When I was a teenager, my parents became foster parents to my boyfriend. Dating each other was one thing, living together was completely different!! I see a post coming soon!
DeleteHow great is that? I love it!
